Moderately useful but difficult to maintain precision.
I was using this in a tiling project with lots of weird angles and this helped for some of the complex marking. In reality it was difficult to get it property adjusted and tight enough to lift and transfer pattern accurately and with confidence. For the few cuts where it was really needed it was super helpful but most of the time just marking with a ruler was easier.
